El pintor de arte Roger De Backer (nacido en 1897 y fallecido en 1984) fue alumno del paisano Modest Huys. Pintó principalmente paisajes y escenas de ferias. En la Calle del Pueblo 75 se encuentra la casa natal de este pintor. Aquí también cuelga una placa conmemorativa. Desde el verano de 2018, también hay una ruta ciclista de Roger De Backer.
