Una estatua más hermosa no podría imaginarse Briek Schotte. La postura angulosa, los brazos profundos en los agarres, una cabeza decidida,... El artista de Tielt Jef Claerhout creó con su obra la imagen de Briek. Desde 1996, "el Último de los Flamencos" mira la plaza del pueblo de Kanegem. La estatua reposa sobre una franja de adoquines, el símbolo de los Flamencos.
