Bellem es una aldea y deelgemeente en el municipio de Aalter en la provincia belga de Flandes Oriental. La aldea se llamaba originalmente Belén. Bellem está ubicada a unos 16 kilómetros al oeste de Gante. La parroquia de Bellem fue fundada alrededor de 1240 como Belén. Se mencionó por primera vez como Bellem en 1291. La aldea era una heerlijkheid, pero solía contener cinco enclaves con granjas pertenecientes a Schuurvelde. En 1577, Bellem y Schuurvelde se fusionaron en una sola heerlijkheid. Alrededor de 1650, se construyó un castillo, y Bellem fue elevada a baronía en 1655.
