El desagüe del Aa se encuentra entre el Zenne y el canal Bruselas-Charleroi. Fue construido en 1925. En caso de fuertes lluvias y para evitar que el río se desborde aguas abajo, este canal desvía el desbordamiento del Zenne hacia el canal, donde el desagüe desemboca a los pies de la esclusa de Anderlecht. Es una estructura de hormigón con 4 compuertas automatizadas. A lo largo de esta ramificación del arroyo hacia el canal también se encuentran varias especies asociadas a la naturaleza pantanosa, como sauce, aliso, lirio amarillo y - desde la primavera - rana verde media.
