La capilla fue construida en 1707.
La capilla estaba dedicada a la Virgen Dolorosa, a quien los habitantes de Kettenis ofrecen sus intenciones en una solemne procesión cada año en septiembre . Una piedra en las paredes del edificio de piedra (en el frontón frente a Nispert y Kettenis) conmemora con iniciales cinceladas a los fundadores, el matrimonio Hubert Raermecker y Catharina Burgers. En 1837 y 1838 se amplió la capilla y se amplió el espacio del coro. Esto todavía se puede ver hoy en la clave del arco de piedra azul sobre la entrada y en el lateral del coro.
Llama la atención un panel en relieve situado en la parte frontal de la capilla, que representa a la Verónica con el sudario de Jesús . Del mobiliario original sólo se conserva el altar barroco de roble.
