La cappella fu costruita nel 1707.
Fu dedicata alla Madre addolorata, alla quale gli abitanti di Kettenis offrono le loro intenzioni in una solenne processione ogni anno a settembre . Una pietra nei muri dell'edificio in pietra (nel frontone di fronte a Nispert e Kettenis) commemora con iniziali scolpite i fondatori, la coppia Hubert Raermecker e Catharina Burgers. Nel 1837 e nel 1838 la cappella fu ampliata e lo spazio del coro ampliato. Ciò è ancora visibile oggi sulla chiave di volta dell'arco in pietra blu sopra l'ingresso e sul lato del coro.
Particolarmente suggestivo è un pannello in rilievo nella parte anteriore della cappella, raffigurante la Veronica con il sudario di Gesù . Dell'arredo originale rimane solo l'altare barocco in rovere.
