Los Hackeschen Höfe se encuentran en la Vorstadt de Spandau, en el distrito de Mitte de Berlín, cerca del denominado barrio de las granjas. Están protegidos como monumento desde 1977.
En 1672 se estableció un cementerio judío al norte del Spree, frente a la puerta de Spandau. Ese mismo año, el elector ordenó mediante un decreto que todos los graneros para heno y paja se trasladaran fuera de las murallas de la ciudad de Berlín, para reducir el riesgo de incendios en el área urbana. Ambas medidas transformaron la zona agrícola justo frente a las fortificaciones de Berlín. Poco a poco, se desarrolló un nuevo barrio, la posterior Vorstadt de Spandau. La denominación barrio de las granjas se ha mantenido en la actualidad para una parte de la zona.
