Dillingen/Saar es una ciudad en el distrito de Saarlouis, Sarre. Tiene aproximadamente 20.000 habitantes y se divide en los tres barrios Dillingen-Innenstadt, Pachten y Diefflen. El área urbana se encuentra en el borde del parque natural Saar-Hunsrück, en la desembocadura del Prims en el Saar y está a unos 10 km de la frontera francesa. Históricamente, Dillingen perteneció al ducado de Lorena, lo que también indica su actual escudo de armas. Desde que en 1685 el rey francés Luis XIV aprobó en Dillingen la construcción de una fundición de hierro, ha estado fuertemente influenciada económicamente por la fundición de hierro y el procesamiento de metales. En términos de población, es el segundo municipio más grande del distrito de Saarlouis, que limita directamente con su ciudad principal.
