Lesse es uno de los 31 distritos de la ciudad independiente de Salzgitter en Baja Sajonia, situada en la localidad de Nordwest. Lesse perteneció hasta el 31 de marzo de 1942 al distrito de Wolfenbüttel y, a través de un acto administrativo, se convirtió en parte de la gran ciudad de Watenstedt-Salzgitter el 1 de abril de 1942. El 23 de enero de 1951, esta fue oficialmente renombrada como Salzgitter.
Lesse fue mencionado por primera vez en documentos en 1022. Ya alrededor de 1400, el lugar contaba con 90 granjas. En 1543, el lugar fue atacado por tropas de Braunschweig y destruido por completo. En 1529, 1597 y 1598, muchos habitantes de Lesse sucumbieron a la peste.
