Buch es el distrito más al norte del distrito de Pankow y, por lo tanto, de Berlín. La localidad situada a orillas del Panke está caracterizada por su núcleo histórico, el parque del castillo, amplias instalaciones hospitalarias y modernitos nuevos desarrollos residenciales.
Buch se encuentra en el Barnim, cuya meseta se eleva claramente sobre las valles circundantes, al norte y noreste el valle de la Eberswalde con el canal de Oder-Havel y el Oderbruch, al sureste la hendidura de Buckow, al sur el valle de la Spree de Berlín y al oeste el valle intermedio de la Havel. El curso superior del Finow y la Panke forman el límite entre el Westbarnim más bajo y el Mittelbarnim más alto.
