La primera mención documental se remonta al año 1234. El nombre se origina en una familia "von Barle", que durante siglos vivió cerca de Paschmannshof en la casa Baerl. El nombre Baerl se deriva de Barlo: Bar/Ber = jabalí, Lo/Loh = bosque y está relacionado con el bosque Baerler, situado al oeste del lugar. La actual iglesia del pueblo evangélica fue construida en el siglo XII.
