Bad Liebenstein – hasta 1907 Liebenstein – es el barrio más poblado y el que da nombre a la ciudad de Bad Liebenstein en el distrito de Wartburg en Turingia. El barrio tiene una tradición como ciudad de spa, balnearios y turismo. Se hizo conocido a nivel regional como residencia de verano de la familia ducal de Meiningen, como el balneario más antiguo de Turingia y como el mayor balneario de cardiopatías de la RDG en el Parque Natural del Bosque Turingio. Con 342.000 pernoctaciones, la ciudad ocupó el quinto lugar entre los destinos turísticos de Turingia en 2016, según la Oficina Estadística del Estado de Turingia. Desde entonces, la ciudad ha caído al séptimo lugar debido a la disminución en el número de pernoctaciones.
El 31 de diciembre de 2012, la ciudad de Bad Liebenstein se fusionó con los municipios vecinos de Schweina y Steinbach para formar una nueva ciudad de Bad Liebenstein con aproximadamente 8,000 habitantes.
