La estación se encuentra en la línea de vía única Oldenburg–Osnabrück, que también se llama la línea del sur de Oldenburg. Se extiende desde el km 61,882 hasta el km 63,896 de la línea principal y desde el km 164,227 hasta el km 165,340 de la línea secundaria cerrada Oberhausen–Rheine–Quakenbrück.
Desde la privatización de la Deutsche Bundesbahn y su transferencia a Deutsche Bahn AG el 1 de enero de 1994, la estación de Quakenbrück, que hasta entonces era una oficina independiente junto con las estaciones conectadas de Badbergen y Essen, se ha subordinado al distrito operativo de Oldenburg.
