La estructura de cierre de Eider se encuentra en la desembocadura del Eider en el Mar del Norte, cerca de Tönning en Schleswig-Holstein, en el área del municipio de Wesselburenerkoog y en la frontera con el municipio de Tönning. El principal objetivo de esta mayor instalación de protección costera de Alemania es la protección contra las tormentas del Mar del Norte. Además, las obras deberían contribuir al auge económico en los distritos de Norderdithmarschen y Eiderstedt como parte del programa Nord. Como una obra maestra del siglo, la estructura de cierre se inauguró el 20 de marzo de 1973.
