La diga Eidersperrwerk si trova alla foce dell'Eider nel Mare del Nord presso Tönning nello Schleswig-Holstein, nel comune di Wesselburenerkoog e al confine con il comune di Tönning. Lo scopo principale di questa più grande opera di protezione costiera della Germania è la protezione dalle maree tempestose del Mare del Nord. Inoltre, le opere avrebbero dovuto contribuire al rilancio economico nei distretti di Norderdithmarschen ed Eiderstedt nell'ambito del programma Nord. Questa opera, considerata un’opera monumentale, è stata inaugurata il 20 marzo 1973.
