La mansión Harkotten de Korff fue construida en 1806 por encargo de los esposos Friedrich-Anton y Rosine Frhr. y Frfr. von Korff en Harkotten, en estilo neoclásico, por el arquitecto Adolf von Vagedes (1777 – 1842).
La pintura decorativa de las paredes interiores en toda la planta baja de la mansión fue encargada al pintor de la corte de Rietberg, Philipp Ferdinand Ludwig Bartscher (1749 – 1823) en los años 1814 – 1816.
Debido a los hallazgos extensos de pintura mural contemporánea y a la importancia regional del artista de Rietberg, la decoración interior del edificio histórico es digna de conservación y de interés público. La mansión Harkotten fue reconocida en 2017 como un monumento de importancia nacional.
