La iglesia de Johanneskirche es una iglesia filial de la parroquia de San Remigio en Borken y, por lo tanto, en el lenguaje popular se le llama también "Pequeña Iglesia". Se encuentra en el centro de la ciudad en la calle Johanniter, esquina con la calle Kapuziner.
La iglesia formaba parte de un convento que ya no existe. Se remonta a una capilla de Ludgerus que fue originalmente construida alrededor del año 1200, que en 1202 fue dotada de ingresos por el caballero Werenzo von Lohn y consagrada por el príncipe obispo Hermann II de Katzenelnbogen. Al mismo tiempo, se elevó a la condición de iglesia filial de la iglesia parroquial de Borken, San Remigio. En 1263, Bernhard Werenzo y su hermano Gerhard von Lohn transfirieron la iglesia a la Orden de los Johanniter. Los Johanniter mantuvieron el derecho de propiedad hasta 1658, cuando entregaron la iglesia a los capuchinos que se habían establecido en Borken desde 1629.
