El castillo de Hengebach se encuentra en Heimbach, una ciudad en la Nordeifel, sobre el Rur en el distrito de Düren, Renania del Norte-Westfalia.
El castillo elevado es una fortaleza ovalada construida en un crestería montañosa de 216 m sobre el nivel del mar, que se eleva libremente desde el valle del Rur, que data de los siglos XII al XIV. El núcleo de la fortaleza lo constituye el patio occidental del siglo XII al XIII con la combinación de torre del homenaje/palacio. La expansión del siglo XIV incluye la parte oriental del complejo del castillo. Esto incluye el patio delantero del castillo, el jardín y el foso. También los edificios residenciales construidos en el lado sur sobre el valle del Rur, que también están diseñados con fines defensivos, son de esta fase de construcción.
