El recinto de animales salvajes de la era del hielo Neandertal es un espacio de aproximadamente 23 hectáreas que fue fundado en 1935 en Neandertal, cerca de Düsseldorf.
Los animales que viven en el recinto, como los bueyes Heck, los caballos Heck y los bisontes, viven en condiciones en gran medida naturales. En la época del Neandertal, también había bisontes aquí, así como los uro y los caballos Tarpan, que fueron exterminados en tiempos históricos y que servían de presa para los humanos primitivos. Los bueyes y caballos Heck son crías que buscan parecerse en apariencia y comportamiento a los uro y caballos salvajes. Estos se equiparan erróneamente en los paneles informativos con la forma salvaje.
