El zoológico de Alsdorfer Weiher es parte del área recreativa de Broichbachtal y se encuentra en Alsdorf, Renania del Norte-Westfalia. El área abarca 30 hectáreas y cuenta con una población de 300 animales de 30 especies diferentes.
A instancias de Helmut Eckert, quien fue director de la ciudad de Alsdorf de 1951 a 1975, se construyó el zoológico en los años 60 entre el distrito de Ofden y la carretera federal 57, se inauguró en 1967 y desde entonces ha crecido cada vez más. Además, Helmut Eckert fundó en 1969 la Asociación del Zoológico de Alsdorf, en la que más tarde fue miembro honorario.
