El castillo Elsum es un castillo de agua al oeste del barrio Birgelen de Wassenberg. Su historia ilustra el desarrollo típico de los castillos de agua renanos: de una corte fortificada a una motte, hasta un castillo de dos partes rodeado de agua que fue reformado en un castillo de agua en la temprana época moderna.
