La central de bombeo Wendefurth, también conocida como central hidroeléctrica de bombeo Wendefurth, es la única central de bombeo en Sajonia-Anhalt. Se encuentra en el distrito de Harz, cerca del barrio de Thale Wendefurth, en el Bode, y utiliza un embalse superior situado sobre la presa de Wendefurth para la generación de electricidad. La construcción comenzó en 1960 y la puesta en operación fue en 1967. Desde 2012 hasta 2014, la central fue sometida a una revisión y modernización.
La central Wendefurth es operada como una planta de carga de pico por Vattenfall y utiliza energía eléctrica no utilizada de plantas de base para bombear agua desde la presa de Wendefurth, situada debajo de la presa Rappbode, a través de dos tuberías de 383 m de longitud y un diámetro de 3,4 m cada una, y una altura de caída promedio de 126 m, a un embalse superior situado al sur de la presa de Wendefurth. Este tiene una capacidad total de almacenamiento de 1,97 millones de m³ y una capacidad operativa de 523 MWh.
