El Monte de los Olivos en Görlitz es parte del jardín paisajístico y pertenece al conjunto general de la instalación del Santo Sepulcro. El jardín del Monte de los Olivos se puede visitar por separado en la temporada cálida.
Según la tradición de las Escrituras Sagradas, en Jerusalén, la víspera del Viernes Santo, sucedió lo siguiente: Jesús, después de una cena solemne, fue con sus discípulos al Monte de los Olivos para orar. Allí, bajo un olivo, pidió a Dios que le apartara de la inminente captura y muerte en la cruz. Sus amigos, mientras tanto, dormían en lugar de orar y esperar con él. Jesús se sintió solo y abandonado.
