La presa de Niddatal detiene el río Nidda y el segundo afluente, Läunsbach, en el borde occidental de los Vogelsberg. El embalse tiene una superficie de aproximadamente 65 hectáreas. Se encuentra en el distrito de Vogelsberg, cerca y en el área de la ciudad de Schotten en Hesse.
La presa de Niddatal - construida entre 1968 y 1970 - pertenece a la asociación de agua NIDDA con sede en Friedberg y sirve principalmente para la protección contra inundaciones y el aumento del caudal mínimo en el Nidda durante los períodos de bajo caudal. Además, la presa también se utiliza para la generación de electricidad a partir de energía hidráulica, así como para el esparcimiento y el turismo.
