La ruta Berkel atraviesa regiones naturales y nos lleva repetidamente al pasado. El Berkel nace en Billerbeck, al pie de las montañas Baumberge. Fluye a través de Coesfeld, Gescher, Stadtlohn y Vreden, antes de alcanzar los Países Bajos. A través de Eibergen, Borculo, Lochem y Almen, desemboca en la IJssel en Zutphen.
Vale la pena hacer una parada en la reserva natural Zwillbrocker Venn con su colonia de flamencos. ¿Tienes ganas de historia cultural?
