Gieselwerder es, junto con Lippoldsberg, una sede administrativa del municipio de Wesertal en el distrito de Kassel, en Hesse del Norte.
Gieselwerder se encuentra en el Alto Wesertal, directamente en la orilla izquierda o occidental del Weser. El lugar está situado en la ladera boscosa del Reinhardswald, donde no muy lejos de Gieselwerder se elevan las montañas Langenberg y Hahneberg. Al otro lado del Weser se extiende la cadena montañosa de Kiffing, unida al Bramwald al sur y al Solling al norte.
