Gieselwerder è – accanto a Lippoldsberg – una sede amministrativa del comune di Wesertal nel distretto di Kassel, nell'Hesse settentrionale.
Gieselwerder si trova nella parte alta della valle del Weser, direttamente sulla riva sinistra o occidentale del Weser. Il paese si trova sul versante boscoso settentrionale del Reinhardswald, dove poco lontano da Gieselwerder si ergono le montagne Langenberg e Hahneberg. Oltre il Weser si estende il rilievo di Kiffing, al quale si uniscono a sud il Bramwald e a nord il Solling.
