Opperzau se encuentra al noreste del municipio de Windeck, directamente junto al Sieg y cerca de una zona boscosa. Junto con Oppertsau, en Renania-Palatinado, Opperzau forma una zona de asentamientos contigua.
Un tramo de 200 metros de las carreteras estatales 112 / 267, que separa Opperzau y Oppertsau, no solo representa el límite municipal, sino que también es el límite estatal entre Renania del Norte-Westfalia y Renania-Palatinado. Además, la carretera tiene un nombre propio en cada lado: Siegstraße para los Oppertsauer y Fürthener Straße para el lado de los Opperzauer.
