Dingden es un distrito de la ciudad de Hamminkeln. Además del pueblo de Dingden, el lugar también incluye las comunidades de Berg, Nordbrock, Lankern y la comunidad de aldeanos.
En 1161 se mencionó en un documento al caballero Gerlach, un miembro de la nobleza de Dingden. Varios descendientes se llaman Sueder. Sueder I participó en la cruzada de Damieta en el año 1217. En Egipto, donó su granja principal en Lankern a la Orden Teutónica. Los habitantes de Dingden se convirtieron en ministros del príncipe obispo de Münster, funcionarios de la administración episcopal. Documentos importantes del obispo, que ya se había convertido en un fuerte gobernante secular, llevaban la firma de un noble de Dingden. Durante mucho tiempo, existieron grandes tensiones entre el príncipe obispo de Münster y el duque de Cleves. Los habitantes de Dingden se vieron envueltos en este conflicto y perdieron gradualmente influencia y propiedades.
