Las partes más empinadas de los lados del valle nunca han sido cultivadas. A lo largo del tiempo han sido utilizadas para el pastoreo. Las tierras de pastoreo sostenibles en suelos secos se llaman brezales. La vegetación es austera y tolera la sequedad y el pastoreo. El valle de Sønderup contiene grandes áreas de brezales. Esta es una de las áreas de brezales más hermosas cerca de Højris Mølle, con una gran cantidad de arbustos de enebro. Puedes moverte por la zona a través de diferentes senderos. El Camino de Jutlandia también pasa por la zona.
