Totana es un municipio y ciudad española perteneciente a la Región de Murcia. Situado en la comarca del Bajo Guadalentín, es cabeza del partido judicial del mismo nombre. Cuenta con 32 316 habitantes .[1]
Según las últimas investigaciones[2]el término de Totana podría derivarse de Totanés y este, de Tutanesio,[3] célebre monasterio visigodo ubicado en las cercanías de "Toletum" capital del reino. Totanés es asimismo un municipio de la provincia de Toledo.
