Ribera de Arriba es un concejo asturiano cuyo nombre viene dado por estar situado en su mayor parte a la ribera del río Nalón que forma un extenso valle en él. Limita al norte y al este con el concejo de Oviedo. Al sur con Mieres y Morcín y al oeste con Santo Adriano. Su extensión no es muy grande, siendo ésta de 22 km², siendo la capital y Soto de Rey sus principales núcleos.
