Éibar[1][2] es una ciudad y municipio de la provincia de Guipúzcoa, en el País Vasco . Pertenece a la comarca de Bajo Deva. Tiene una extensión de 24,78 km² y 27 467 habitantes ,[3] con una densidad poblacional de 1106,42 hab./km². Ostenta el título de «Muy Ejemplar Ciudad».Situada a orillas del río Ego, en la cuenca del río Deva, limita con la provincia de Vizcaya, conformando con la vecina localidad de Ermua un mismo conjunto urbano. Fue fundada con el nombre de Villanueva de San Andrés de Éibar, pero siempre ha sido conocida con el nombre de Éibar.[4] La población recibió el fuero de constitución de la villa el 5 de febrero del año 1346.
