Liencres es una localidad costera de Cantabria , perteneciente al municipio de Piélagos. Está situada en el litoral a 9 kilómetros al oeste de Santander, con una altitud de 72 metros sobre el nivel del mar.
El número de habitantes en el año 2019 se sitúa en 3.524, mientras que en el año 2005 era de 2.349 habitantes, según datos del INE. Esto da idea del importante crecimiento del lugar y, en definitiva, del municipio. El crecimiento demográfico experimentado durante estos 10 años es debido a la importante atracción turística que supone la costa y sus playas, y a la cercanía del municipio con Santander.
