La puerta de la ciudad Puerta Cijara forma parte del flanco oriental de la muralla de la ciudad de Ronda .
Por sus características geográficas, Ronda siempre ha sido un enclave estratégico, alcanzando sus murallas más extensas durante la época de la dominación musulmana. Los límites de la medina islámica eran el desfiladero del Guadalevín al norte y las murallas de la ciudad al sur, este y oeste.
Esta parte, las murallas orientales, son las más importantes de las murallas de la ciudad.
