La porta de la ciutat de la Puerta Cijara forma part del flanc oriental de la muralla de la ciutat de Ronda .
Per les seves característiques geogràfiques, Ronda ha estat sempre un enclavament estratègic, arribant als seus murs perimetrals més extensos durant l'època de domini morisc. Els límits de la medina islàmica eren el Congost de Guadalevín al nord i les muralles de la ciutat al sud, est i oest.
Aquesta part, la muralla oriental, és la més important de les muralles de la ciutat.
