El nombre del pueblo se refiere al Castillo de Solre, que fue completamente destruido en 1473 por las tropas del Conde de Saint-Pol. Este castillo medieval fue posteriormente capturado, destruido o reconstruido varias veces, pero ahora ha desaparecido por completo. Se descubren regularmente historias y hallazgos de la época de guerras, asedios e incendios en la región.
