Frente a la basílica de Notre-Dame y al final de las callejuelas se encuentra una cruz de piedra erigida en 1630 por los habitantes de Saint-Macaire (o La Réole) para obtener el cese de la peste. Hasta la Revolución, los macarenos salían en procesión el día de San Marcos y de Pentecostés, encabezados por el superior de los jesuitas, seguidos por los sacerdotes del coro, los jurados vestidos de gala y sus cofradías con sus estandartes.
