El Museo de la Ciudadela de Bourg se encuentra junto al castillo, de arquitectura neoclásica del siglo XVIII.
En el siglo XVI, la ciudadela de Bourg, cerrojo de Burdeos, fue elevada a la categoría de ciudadela inexpugnable gracias a la obra del duque de Épernon, cuya caballería subterránea sigue siendo un vestigio que podrá descubrir en visitas guiadas. También puede adentrarse en el subsuelo, donde las antiguas canteras de piedra se convirtieron en el lugar de construcción de los impresionantes depósitos de petróleo de hormigón armado de 70 metros de largo utilizados durante la Segunda Guerra Mundial.
Su colección de coches de caballos, que se describirá con detalle durante las visitas guiadas, le sorprenderá.
El museo abre gratuitamente las Jornadas Europeas del Patrimonio y las Noches Europeas de los Museos.
