A 1221 m de altitud, el panorama se abre a 360 grados sobre un paisaje soberbio. Al norte, la Baja Navarra con el valle de Aldudes y los picos de Auza y Adartza. Al sur, la llanura de Burguete/Auritz abre el camino hacia Navarra y Pamplona/Irunea.
El paisaje es típico del ecosistema silvopastoral.
Para la migración, es un sitio excepcional. Aquí se pueden observar aves en condiciones óptimas. El yacimiento ha sido objeto de un seguimiento científico desde 1987. Los objetivos son tres: estudiar los flujos migratorios para detectar cambios en las poblaciones, estudiar el impacto de la caza de palomas en todas las especies migratorias, e informar al público sobre el fabuloso fenómeno de la migración.
