Situado en un saliente que domina el valle del Dordoña, el castillo fue construido entre 1519 y 1534 por Juana de Balsac, Señora de Montal. Nunca terminada, esta obra maestra del Renacimiento se distingue por la excepcional riqueza de sus esculturas, dignas de palacios reales. Escalera monumental. Tapices y muebles de los siglos XVI y XVII. Patio renacentista.
