Los pueblos del valle del Bruche están salpicados de numerosas fuentes de dos depósitos que se utilizaban para alejar el riesgo de incendio, para abastecer a los habitantes de agua corriente y también para servir de abrevadero y lavadero. En los pueblos de montaña, las fuentes, que en su mayoría datan del siglo XIX, son a veces obras maestras de la escultura, como en Wisches-Hersbach. El municipio de Saâles es uno de los que cuenta con un gran número de ellas, con más de 25 fuentes públicas.
