De dorpen van de Bruchevallei zijn bezaaid met talrijke fonteinen met twee reservoirs die dienden om het risico van brand af te wenden en om de inwoners van stromend water te voorzien, terwijl ze ook dienden als drinkbak en wasplaats. In de bergdorpen zijn de fonteinen, waarvan de meeste dateren uit de 19e eeuw, soms meesterlijke beeldhouwwerken, zoals in Wisches-Hersbach. De gemeente Saâles is een van de gemeenten met een groot aantal, met meer dan 25 openbare fonteinen.
