La comunidad judía del Val de Villé se estableció originalmente en Bassemberg, donde tenía un pequeño lugar de culto. No fue hasta el siglo XIX cuando los israelitas se instalaron en la ciudad. En 1904 se construyó una sinagoga en la plaza de la Liberté para albergar a los 30 miembros de la comunidad judía de la época. El edificio consta de una planta baja y un entresuelo. La planta baja incluye el altar, donde se encuentra el armario con los libros de la Ley, orientado hacia el este, y la zona de los hombres. Las damas rezan en el entresuelo. Durante la ocupación nazi (1940-1944), la sinagoga se convirtió en un lugar para almacenar leche en grandes cisternas. Fue restaurada y reinaugurada el 6 de noviembre de 1955. Los difuntos están enterrados en el cementerio judío de Sélestat, algunas de cuyas tumbas son muy antiguas y están catalogadas como Monumentos Históricos.
