Este edificio es un antiguo molino anexo a la abadía de Saint Airy, que data de 1774. Se habría utilizado para producir harina, armas, en particular espadas de dos manos (zweihander) o para azotar sábanas. El edificio fue comprado por el Sr. Couten, que huyó de Metz tras la anexión de Alsacia-Mosela, y lo convirtió en castillo. Fue vendido a la ciudad de Verdún en 1951 y restaurado en los últimos años.
