En octubre de 1985, recibió el nombre de Square d'Urmitz, en honor a la ciudad gemela alemana de Les Noës près Troyes. Eric Oden, entonces alcalde de Urmitz, descubrió el cartel que daba nombre oficialmente a la plaza y regaló a su colega Roger Dujeancourt un arbusto símbolo de la amistad entre las dos ciudades hermanas, que se plantó cerca del cartel.
En abril de 2012, también se plantó en una ceremonia oficial un ginkgo (también conocido como el árbol de los mil écus), donado por el Syndicat Départ a sus 42 ciudades miembros, entre ellas Les Noës.
Por iniciativa de Jean-Pierre Abel, Alcalde de Les Noës y Presidente del Syndicat Départ, este gesto simbólico pretendía compensar parcialmente la huella de carbono dejada por las actividades del Syndicat durante la preparación del Esquema de Coherencia Territorial (SCot).
Verdadero pulmón verde del municipio, esta plaza es un lugar de descanso y relajación, siempre muy apreciado por los habitantes de Noyats.
