Heddon-on-the-Wall es un pueblo en Northumberland, Inglaterra, situado en el Muro de Adriano. Heddon-on-the-Wall está aproximadamente a 9 millas al oeste del centro de Newcastle upon Tyne, y justo fuera de Throckley. El nombre del lugar 'Heddon' significa 'colina donde creció la brezo'.
El nombre del lugar 'Heddon on the Wall' se atestigua por primera vez en los registros de Pipe para 1175, donde aparece como Hedun. Aparece como Heddun en 1262 y como Hedon super murum en 1242. El nombre proviene del antiguo inglés hæth-dūn, que significa 'colina donde creció la brezo'.
