La Biblioteca Nacional de Gales es la biblioteca depositaria de Gales y una de las únicas cinco con esta categoría en el Reino Unido. Está situada en Aberystwyth. Es un organismo financiado por la Asamblea de Gobierno. Es la biblioteca más grande de Gales, con más de 6,5 millones de libros y publicaciones periódicas. Alberga grandes colecciones de archivos, retratos, mapas e imágenes fotográficas de Gales. La Biblioteca Nacional también custodia la colección nacional de manuscritos galeses, el Archivo Nacional de Pantalla y Sonido de Gales y la colección más amplia de pinturas y grabados topográficos del país. Es el principal archivo de Gales y su biblioteca científica más importante, así como una de las bibliotecas científicas más grandes del Reino Unido.[1] La institución es miembro del grupo Research Libraries UK[2] y del Consortium of European Research Libraries .[3]
