El lago Estimfalía se encuentra en la parte noreste del Peloponeso, en Corintia, Grecia del sur.
Es una cuenca kárstica cerrada con un área de humedales y un área agraria. El lago es una parada importante para las aves migratorias. El tamaño del lago varía, dependiendo de la temporada.
Generalmente, esta área alrededor del lago es bastante seca. En ciertas condiciones climáticas, miles de pequeñas ranas verdes se esconden en la hierba húmeda de las serpientes acuáticas. Estas ranas son invisibles en la hierba hasta que casi pisas sobre ellas, momento en el que saltan fuera del camino, aterrizando generalmente sobre otra rana que también salta. El efecto es de ondas de ranas que se desplazan hacia afuera con cada paso. El área es rica en aves, anfibios y vida vegetal. También se pueden ver otros animales salvajes, como las comadrejas.
