El Ática es una periferia de Grecia formada por ocho unidades periféricas: Atenas Septentrional, Atenas Occidental, Atenas Central, Atenas Meridional, Ática Oriental, El Pireo, Islas y Ática Occidental.[2] Atenas fue anteriormente capital de la Periferia de Grecia Central.
Se localiza en el sur de Grecia. Además de la capital, están adscritas a ella las ciudades de Eleusis, Megara, Laurión, y Maratón, así como las islas de Salamina, Egina, Poros, Hidra, Spetses, Citera y Anticitera. Más de 3 700 000 personas viven en el nomos, de las cuales el 95 % están en el área metropolitana ateniense. El gentilicio es ático, del griego antiguo Ἀττικός .
